VIDEOCONFERENCING TOOLS FOR ILLINOIS EDUCATORS Is your school district dedicated to advancing the technical capability of its K-12 teachers and administrators? Then the University of Illinois, through the TRECC program, is providing collaboration tools and educational resources for you! The TRECC program has developed a free, dynamic educational resource -- the Educators' Knowledge Center -- http://www.trecc.org/ed-kc. Leading the communication arena, TRECC is also supplying a limited number of free web cameras and microphone headsets to assist in increasing the communication capabilities of Illinois' educators. In addition to a free web camera, TRECC is supplying multi-point, virtual, videoconferencing rooms via the University of Illinois Educators' Knowledge Center -- http://www.trecc.org/ed-kc. Using virtual rooms, educators can meet with colleagues and participate in a variety of videoconferencing activities. Due to a limited supply of cameras, TRECC will distribute up to 2 web cameras per school. The most typical places where web cameras might be located are:
To ensure your web camera system is set-up and working properly, each camera recipient will be scheduled for a 30-60 minute training session, to be conducted over the phone with the TRECC training staff. To apply for and view the Creative NX WebCam, complete the scholarship application found at http://www.trecc.org/education/webcam. To find out how other educators are using video conferencing, click on: http://www.trecc.org/education/videoconf.php. Join with other educators in collaborating and communicating virtually -- you don't know what you're missing!
